In this occasional series Lyndey Milan, Australian cooking and media personality, shares ‘Comfort Food for Grief’ – wholesome ideas for special foods to comfort you or those you love, during difficult emotional times.
“We all know that chicken soup is good for us, comforting when we are unwell and widely regarded as a cure all. It’s the classic comfort food for grief,” says Lyndey.
“Chicken soup for the soul is also acknowledged as important – and an expression for emotional comfort – which is just what we want and also want to give,” she says.
“So chicken soup, made with love and delivered to someone who is bereaved satisfies on so many levels – for comfort, nutrition and solace – as well as showing that someone else thinks and cares about them and what they are going through.”
“I rather like this recipe – it’s very nourishing http://www.lyndeymilan.com/avada_portfolio/chicken-vegetable-and-pearl-barley-soup/ – I have done it using a whole chicken but this is quicker.”
This is the fifth in Lyndey’s series on Comfort Food for Grief. To see more of Lyndey’s comfort foods for grief, go to:
