Don’t be shy – there’ll be a friendly crowd, a free cuppa and no question is too silly or odd.

“Grief is a fundamental human experience and yet the intensity of it often takes us by surprise,” said Bianka.

“I hope to explore some of the questions grieving people ask me about what to expect during grief, what’s ‘normal,’ and what support is available,” she said.

“Grief is a fundamental human experience,” Bianka says.

Bianka is the Acting Bereavement Coordinator and Counselling for the Illawarra and Shoalhaven Bereavement Counselling Service. This is a NSW Health based counselling and support service for bereaved people.

Bianka is a senior social worker with postgraduate experience and training in grief counselling. She has worked for NSW Health over the past eight years, across adult and paediatric services, primarily in the fields of palliative care and oncology.
